The Killing of George Floyd: the Aftermath and Reflections with Colorado African-American Leaders.

Dr. Nabeeh Hasan is the Co-Director of the Colorado Muslim Speakers Bureau (CMSB), an affiliate of the Islamic Networks Group (ING). He is active in speaking at and facilitating interfaith efforts, youth development and training speakers. Nabeeh is also a biomedical researcher at National Jewish Health, specializing in genomics of infectious lung diseases. Through speaking about Islam, health and science, Nabeeh has given hundreds of presentations to primary schools, universities, churches, hospitals and professional societies. He currently lives in Denver, CO. Nabeeh represents the Muslim religion.

Sheikh Husayn El-Mekki Abdullah-Aziz was born in West Philadelphia. His parents and family came from a Christian /catholic background. He went to seminary abroad at a young age. He has an education background in nursing, I/T as well as Islamic Studies and Philosophy. Currently he is a PhD student at the University of Denver. He is part of the board of Ahl al-Bayt Assembly of America in Colorado. He is a local Imam and the advisor to several mosques. He is also active in areas of social, racial and climate justice, interfaith and intra-faith dialogue, youth advocacy and mental health /autism awareness. He has language expertise in Farsi /Persian, Dari, and Arabic. And he enjoys spending time with family, writing poetry, translation, travel, reading and basketball.

Rev. Amanda Henderson has served as Executive Director of The Interfaith Alliance of Colorado since 2014. She is an Ordained Minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she has served as a pastor, and is pursuing a Ph.D in Religion and Politics at the University of Denver and Iliff School of Theology. She is author of Holy Chaos, Creating Connections in Divisive Times, and is a frequent speaker and writer on the topics of interfaith understanding, advocacy, and civic engagement.

Rabbi Brian Field Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Rabbi Brian moved to the United States to attend the Reconstructionist Rabbinical School in Philadelphia, PA. Ordained as a rabbi in 1994, Rabbi Brian has served congregations in Chatham, New Jersey and Madison, Wisconsin. In 2004, Rabbi Brian moved to Denver with his family to help launch Judaism Your Way, an organization dedicated to creating spaces in Judaism for those who had never before felt that they belonged. Rabbi Brian’s vision is a maximally-inclusive Judaism that plays a robust role in the healing of the planet and the liberation of all human beings.

Imam ShemsAdeen served as Imam and Religious Director at The Metropolitan Denver North Islamic Center (Masjid Ikhlas) in Northglenn Colorado from 2015-2019 and currently serves as Director of Student Affairs & Community Engagement at Crescent View Academy.
Imam ShemsAdeen remains highly engaged in interfaith, outreach, and bridge building efforts between the Muslim community and other faith traditions, public officials and community law enforcement. He speaks regularly at Churches, Universities and other public forums.
